The research department at Advisor Group, Inc. has made these documents available to all clients to help understand the impact of the coronavirus scare on the economy and the markets going forward. This black swan event has sent the markets into bear market territory. Once the panic selling has ceased, the cycle will reset and we will eventually enter a new bull market phase. Insofar as a recession is concerned, nobody can say for sure how much this will effect the economy. Remember a recession is two or more successive quarters of negative growth. Even if a recession does ensue, the cycle will reset at that point and a new economic recovery will eventually begin.
